Irreligious person fights with misery ie.. fights for how one can come out of the mistery.
Religious person seeks the light, bliss etc.

I'm a bit of both and I just seek happiness. I'm not in misery, but I would like to be happier, or have someone who makes me happy. I don't want riches or power, just to smile.

Guess it depends on one's definition of happiness and the methods used to pursue happiness.

The Christian perspective; I seek to please the God of the universe out of gratitude for this life and most importantly for the forgiveness of sin (salvation) that the same God grants. You will find us using phrases such as dieing to self. We live to praise and worship God, to raise our families in the same manner, and have been commissioned by our Savior to spread the good news of salvation. In every one of these cases the least important issue is self. If I seek that which the world says will make me happier it will detract from worshipping God with whole self & soul. It also detracts our service to others. The term "Lord" is used in the strictist sense of the word. Pursuing knowledge of God brings people to the same goal. Looking around for those with same belief helps one find a mate or friend that will have similar goal; service to God and fellow-man. Non-Christians & some denominations cannot fathom freedom in service to all except self. But our Lord came "not to be served, but to serve". Prior to His ultimate sacrifice for us, He washed the feet of His disciples. That was a job for the lowest servants in their time. There are many more such examples. Following His lead is indeed how we seek the Light of the World, and true happiness.

God isn't an entity, God is our own soul. How we view our own soul is how we shape our lives.

Just my opinion.

I agree that God is not an entity, our own soul yes, but expand the concept to all that is.

Accepting God as all that is, produces a huge responsibility. One is required to accept that God is the murderer and the healer, the rapist and the care giver, the good AND the bad. This takes a great deal of work and realignment of beliefs, but is worth it in the end.

If a person works towards self awareness, they can develop a set of universal norms that are beyond the priciples of social morality, euphemisms, social conventions and transitory human laws and labels.
Such an approach has led me to ponder and critique whatever is presented to me, and with the dissipation of mental barriers and conditioning, begin to experience multi-dimensionality ;o)

I am not sure, but I believe we just said the same thing. It is only time and space that give us the illusion of being separate, both from ourselves and from all that is.
