Its a quality book in my opinion, and as the title might suggest it tries to note the many similarities that seemed shared by the tenements and/or philosophies of the world's Mystic traditions and those of modern-day physicists.
So I thought a fun game might be:
a poster posts a quote, either by a mystic or a physicist, whereupon we take a few stabs at guessing who it is (no cheating!). After a new post of either a guess or a new quote, the poster of the original quote will then reveal to all the source of the quote. I'm hoping for a few curveballs, or at least some really memorable quotes.
I'll attempt to get us started:
"A human being is part of the whole, called by us `Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest: a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us...our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty...striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."
Let the Games Begin! (sorry, I suppose I might be assuming quite a bit to think that people will be interested in playing this...) |

"For all the contradictions of the present day world, for all the diversity of the social and political sytems in it, and for all the different choices made by the nations in different times, this world is nevertheless one whole. We are all passengers aboard one ship, the Earth, and we must not alow it to be wrecked. There will be no second Noah's Ark." |

First off, awesome quote! Thanks for keepin' the game alive. Ummm, I'm pretty well stumped; it really could go either way. It kind of reminds me of the anthropological "World Lifeboat" theory, so I'm going to guess its a physicist... sounds kind of Fermi-esque. |
